On March 8, 2012 Play City entertainment center hosted the 2-nd "Bowling for Equal Opportunities" tournament. The tournament was initiated by Bridge of Hope and Mission East organizations with support of Foreign Ministry of Denmark (DANIDA) and was held on the occasion of Women’s International Day aiming to advocate the idea of equal opportunities for people with disabilities. As of January 2012 there are 81 901 women with disabilities officially registered in Armenia. They are doubly vulnerable for their gender and disabilities. Very often cultural stereotypes or beliefs about the role of women in the society serve as reason for discrimination against women and girls. This event was another occasion to voice such concerns. Among the participants in the tournament were people with disabilities, representatives of NGO-s and the media, individuals. The first prize went to Armen Mkrtchyan from Scarp NGO; 2-n and 3-rd places were occupied by Ashot Hakobyan and Ruzan Minasyan from Aravot daily respectively.
