Children receive the physical therapy they need at our daycare centers. This service is aimed to develop the independence and physical abilities of the children to the fullest.
Our physical therapists, together with the children’s attending physicians, plan the rehabilitation and development of the child’s gross and minor motor skills. They try to prevent limitations of functions and train children to use orthopedic and supplementary equipment and wheelchairs. The ultimate goal is to maximally develop a child’s independent living skills.
Early Childhood Development
Social inclusion begins at the early age. Our childcare daily centers operate in 4 communities in Tavush Region - Ijevan, Noyemberyan, Berd and Ijevan. The specialists at our centers help to discover the special needs of the children at their pre-school age. This is when our cooperation with the children, their families and their community environment begins. After determining the special needs, our multidisciplinary team guides the children to the relevant specialists or one of our clubs (handcrafts, art, etc.).
Pedagogical Psychological Support
The psychologist locates the conditions that complicate the child’s individual development and performs group and one-to-one sessions, drawing on the child’s strengths. The sessions help to develop the children’s social and psychological skills and abilities. They consult and help not only the children and teenagers who come to our centers, but also their parents or legal representatives, for the solution of their personal, professional and other kinds of problems. The psychologists, together with the special pedagogues, take part in planning the special education curriculum for children with special education needs.
They locate the conditions that complicate the child’s individual development and social inclusion and help the children, teachers, the parents or their legal representatives to solve social, personal, professional and other particular problems. Together with other professionals, the social workers plan and develop programs to contribute to the child’s social inclusion, considering the child’s individual characteristics, their age, gender, and family condition. They take part in planning the special education curriculum for children with special education needs, considering the development characteristics.
Children attend classes of music, handcrafts, painting and drawing, carving and pottery. Here they learn to creatively express themselves, communicate, convey their feelings and imaginations. Art therapy also helps them recognize themselves and the surrounding world. Unlike adults, children are not always able to logically express what they feel by means of words. But when they take pencils, paints and brushes, they forget about all that holds them back, use their limitless imagination and sore freely in time and space. Art therapy helps children see the differences and likenesses in people, the surrounding world and nature, and realize that this very diversity is what makes the world beautiful.
