Amplifying the Voices of Persons with Disabilities in Armenian Development Agenda

The project was realized between 2019-2021 with financial support from DMCCD in Denmark and in partnership with the Danish International organization “Mission East”. The project ensured the voice of people with disabilities be heard, and the DPOs (disabled person organizations) have been strengthened, via the training of disability advocates, the capacity building of DPOs in under-represented regions, and improved coalition advocacy planning. Evidence-based advocacy for disability-inclusive development in Armenia has been conducted based on the UN CRPD and SDG frameworks. Project activities targeted both people with disabilities and their families as rights holders, as well as duty bearers from local and Ministry levels, to effect lasting change via an improved understanding of rights and increased capacity of DPO actors. The implementation of UN CRPD was monitored and the shadow report on the 2nd and 3rd periodic report of the government was developed and submitted to the UNCRPD committee with the participation of 15 disability rights organizations/DPOs. A comprehensive assessment of the Armenian legal framework is conducted against the human rights indicators of UN CRPD. The assessment report is disseminated widely and is available on the BOH website.
