Day Care Social support services to children in adversity in Tavush Marz

This project was implemented with a subsidy provided by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of the Republic of Armenia from 2008 to 2020. Each year, approximately 720 children in difficult life situations (such as those who are with a disability, one-sided or two-sided orphans, children under the care of a single parent or grandparent, those living in foster families, or coming from families in extreme poverty or with a parent in prison) and their families were supported. The community-based socio-psychological services offered by “Child Development and Social Inclusion Centers” of “Bridge of Hope” in Dilijan, Ijevan, Berd, and Noyemberyan supported the psycho-social and emotional development of these children. The services included family counseling, play therapy, art therapy, media literacy, professional orientation group therapy, and other creative group activities. In a secure and supportive environment each year hundreds of children developed their vital life skills, made friends, and gained supporters. Consequently, their self-esteem and sense of belonging to a group increased. As a result, many families overcame difficult socio-psychological situations and their children gradually overcame social isolation and neglect, and they were better included in community life.
